Looking to get into Drum n Bass + Dubstep making?
Hi, I've been obsessed with these genres as well as liquid dnb and jungle for the past 2 years or so and really want to get into making some original stuff myself. I got Fruity Loops 9 and Reason 5 already on my computer and just wondering what else hardware / software wise i'll be needing as well as any pointers in terms of good websties / forums etc just to get me started. Cheers in Advance Chris.
Hey. I use fruityloops and reason to write trance/electro house music. In my opinion, FL Studio is great for the electronic genres and with it's durability and flexibility, many other softwares can coincide with it. Try going to producerloops.com for drum sounds, they have loads of stuff to choose from. Then, you can use VSTs in FL to create synths. I suggest 'Sytrus', 'nexus' and 'vanguard'. They can be expensive, but it's worth it. Use those plus the default VSTs that come with the program. Reason is great for the wobble bass and synths for dubstep, but you need good knowledge of the software and musical processes. LFOs and compressors... That kinda thing. You don't really need hardware as such, as you can do everything in the piano roll.
Hope I've helped. Check me out on soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/pyroteknik
